Now you have the chance, as Ballard Power Systems Europe is looking for Finance Project Controller to join the Finance Team with primary base at our European Headquarter in Hobro. As a Finance Project Controller, you will become a part of the Finance team with five competent colleagues who currently report directly to our finance director with primary base in Canada.

Do you want to be responsible for our Project Controlling?

As our new Finance Project Controller, you will be responsible for monitoring the financial aspects of projects from initial planning, through execution to completion.  In this role you liaison with stakeholders such as project managers where you are to collaborate with key personnel to meet financial objectives and ensure alignment with senior management.

While being a part of the finance team, you will also support our Market Development Department where your assignments will be to perform the financial analysis and reporting of our governmental founded projects.

You will also be responsible for

  • Financial analysis to evaluate project viability and conducting cost-benefit analyses.
  • Establish cost tracking for approved projects to monitor actual expenses and forecasts against the budget and ensure addressing of discrepancies.
  • Financial reporting and general financial project administration e.g., providing regular updates on the project's financial status and analyzing data for trends.
  • Working with EU funded Projects in relation to IKAA processes, audits, financial validations etc.
  • Risk management to identify and strategize against potential financial risks.
  • Compliance to ensure adherence to financial regulations and organizational policies.
  • Financial documentation to maintain organized financial records.
  • Training and development where you educate the team on financial best practices.
  • Assisting in financial audits and support of the implementation of recommendations.

Who are you?

You probably have a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, project management or a closely related field combined with some years of experience from a similar role which have provided with practical cost-controlling experience. We expect that you have broad knowledge in executing step-by-step cost controlling and experience in creating and forecasting project budgets/cost as well as general managing financials within direct project execution.

You are an experienced user of Excel and have experience with enterprise resource software.  BPSE is currently transitioning from our legacy Axapta system and implementing the global Ballard Oracle system. It is considered as an advantage if you have experience with updating and generating reports in PowerBI. Experience with EU Funded Projects (EU Funding and Tender Portal) would be an advantage, but not a requirement.

As our corporate language is English it is essential you are a good communicator in both Danish and English.   

As a person you have a strong analytical approach, and it comes natural to you to make data-driven decisions and use facts and numbers as a base for discussion and decision making. You have strong problem-solving skills with a well-organized and process driven work method. In addition to your data-driven approach, you have strong interpersonal skills, and you are good at establishing and maintaining good working relationships with your co-workers and relevant stakeholders. It comes natural to you to be a team-player and meets everyone with a positive and professional attitude.
