Do you want to be an integrated part of ensuring a high level of quality and continuous improvement of the quality of our high-performance fuel cell products? Ballard Europe are currently looking for another process-oriented Quality Engineer who will join our Quality team consisting of eight competent and forthcoming colleagues with direct report to our Quality Manager.


In the role as Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for contributing to the development and execution of the overall technical quality strategy as well as the overall product quality with a focus on ensuring continuous improvement of the quality of Ballard Europe’s product, mainly Backup Power and Marine modules. You will have responsibility for diving deep into product performance analysis and improvement.


You will experience a very close collaboration with our current quality engineers as well as with relevant stakeholders including among others our internal Technology and Product Development, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Commercial departments.


Your key responsibilities are within the following areas:

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the overall technical quality strategy.
  • Conduct product performance analysis and improvement.
  • Quality guidance and feedback for the Production process and design process
  • Non-conformity registration and reporting
  • Problem solving
  • Internal audit

Who are we looking for?  
You are educated an engineer or acquired knowledge at a similar level with 1-3 years of experience from a similar position. You might start your career in Ballard as a junior Quality Engineer where you are able to contribute with experience and competences in some of the areas mentioned. However, we do put a high emphasis your knowledge and experience within quality tools and methods like 8D, APQP, 5 x why, Ishikawa, ISO-standards etc. as well as your strong technical understanding.

Preferably, you previously worked in a similar role where you have gained an understanding of internal workflows, quality indicators in reporting and analytical software (for example, Power BI) as well as knowledge of ERP systems (preferably Axapta and Oracle). In addition, it would be considered an advantage if you have experience with project management or you are motivated by developing these skills while being a part of Ballard.


As our corporate language is English, we expect you to be fluent in English and able to communicate and compose written material at a high level.

  • Process-orientated mindset with excellent planning skills and the ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
  • Independent with a high focus on ensuring a well-founded decision-making process.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of internal and external contacts at all levels of the organization.
  • Comfortable with handling confidential and non-routine information as well as explain policies when necessary.
