Test Engineer to leading manufacturer and developer of fuel cells

Ballard is seeking a structured, quality-conscious Test Engineer for our Technology and Product Development department in Hobro. Responsibilities include testing Fuel Cell components and systems for Automotive, Maritime, Rail, and Backup solutions.

Reporting to the Team Lead for Testing Services, you'll be part of a team of nine skilled colleagues.

As a Test Engineer some of your tasks will be to support the Test Service Team in testing of components, systems, and providing and setting up testing equipment and manuals for production. You will supervise lab technicians, sub-contractors, and suppliers as well as support the technical team, technology solutions, Backup and Supply Chain in mechanical and electrical assembly, prototype builds etc. In general, you will experience a wide range of tasks ranging from both hands on in the Lab as well as administrative, participating in meetings and doing written reports.

A part of your assignments will also be to a mentor and train jr. test engineers.

You will be responsible for:

  • Collaborate with System Architects and Managers to refine test specifications and translate concepts into effective test designs for high-quality results.
  • Supervise projects, sub-contractors, and ensure tests of components and assemblies adhere to defined acceptance criteria based on functional requirements and operational descriptions.
  • Assist in defining test methods and strategies.
  • Analyze data and trace faults for problem resolution.
  • Write documentation and generate reports.
  • Specify and verify software specifications.
  • Provide guidance on cabling dimensioning and instructions.
  • Create comprehensive work instructions for various tasks.

Who are you?

You have a relevant bachelor’s degree in Maritime, Mechanical, Electrical or Energy, or a higher/equivalent education in addition to 4-8 years of relevant experience in industries e.g., housing/industrial electrics, industrial machinery, automotive, marine, aircraft or similar. You have probably spent at least a few of these years as a commissioning engineer or similar where you have gained documented experience with test/validation and worked both within the electrical and mechanical field. You have experience with datalogging and control system.

You may even have experience working with Fuel Cells and diagnostics of these, or alternatively experience with gas handling, ATEX etc.

On the personal side you possess strong interpersonal skills rooted in respect for others' opinions, coupled with a solution- and quality-oriented mindset, whether working independently or in teams. Self-motivated and driven, you take ownership of tasks. Your excellent English communication skills extend to both written and oral forms. Comfortable with both practical and administrative tasks, your previous job experiences have honed these abilities.
